TV Academy Chairman talks bringing digital creators into the Emmys

LOS ANGELES — The Television Academy is all about being “platform agnostic.”
Last month, the Academy announced that it will expand its Primetime Emmy Awards short form category to include content from digital creators and distributors.
While this is not the first time digital/broadband content has been eligible — the Academy opened the Emmy competition to digital submissions back in 2007 — the expansion marks an overall industry effort to be more inclusive of the digital space.
“Our business is evolving, our membership is evolving, the kind of content is evolving,” Bruce Rosenblum, Television Academy Chairman and CEO, told Mashable in a recent interview. “It’s incumbent upon us to evolve with the times and lead.” Read more…
