Qantas to hold frequent flyer status for new parents

If you’ve been a high-flying businessman or woman, having kids can put a dent in your frequent flyer points. But worry no more as you throw another dirty nappy in the bin, your well-earned frequent flyer status is safe.
Qantas, Australia’s national airline, is coming to the table for new parents. The company announced Tuesday its parental leave scheme, which will allow parents to keep their status as a high-flying legend even while they spend time with their new bundle.
In an initiative sexily named, “The Status Hold Initiative,” any silver, gold or platinum frequent flyer can get their status held for 18 months, even if they are not earning the points needed to keep up their membership level. Read more…
