N.W.A. slam Gene Simmons, then pose for a selfie at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Even though N.W.A. was quite noticeably the only inductee at Friday night’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony not to perform — Ice Cube said in an interview “we really didn’t feel like we were supported enough to do the best show we could put on” — they still managed to send the loudest message of the night. 

As the only hip-hop group inducted this year and only the fifth hip-hop act ever inducted, the Compton-bred group was a standout from fellow inductees Cheap Trick, Deep Purple, Steve Miller Band and Chicago. 

Kendrick Lamar gives a heartfelt introduction

A fellow Compton native, Kendrick Lamar has repeatedly sung N.W.A.’s praises as a major influence in his career. So when he took the stage Friday night to introduce them, it felt like far more genuine than someone reading words from a teleprompter.   Read more…
