#MuslimNeighborhood hashtag shows solidarity against Trump, Cruz police patrols

If you want to see what a “Muslim neighborhood” looks like, just refer to Twitter. 

Following the ISIS-led terrorist attacks on Brussels Tuesday morning, Ted Cruz and Donald Trump made divisive comments calling for police patrols of Muslim neighborhoods. 

“We need to empower law enforcement to patrol and secure Muslim neighborhoods before they become radicalized,” Cruz said in a statement. Trump made similar sentiments (he has previously rallied for banning Muslims in the U.S.).

Ignited by these proposals, Twitter users lashed out against the GOP presidential candidates. First, messages reminded the men (and their supporters) that not all Muslims are terrorists. Then, many users circulated the hashtag #MuslimNeighboorhood, hoping to showcase solidarity in those neighborhoods peaceful and patriotic American ways.  Read more…
