Emirates completes the new world's longest flight

Emirates has now completed the new world’s longest flight, nonstop from Auckland to Dubai.

The flight was projected to take 17 hours and 15 minutes and cover 8,819 miles, making it the longest flight in the world. However the flight was shorter than expected: The final flight time was 16 hours and 24 minutes.

Flight conditions will vary the actual length of the route.

The airline posted a video earlier Wednesday of the landing of the first leg of the service, from Dubai to Auckland. Just after the video was posted, the flight in the opposite direction — from Auckland to Dubai — took off. Read more…
