It’s time to go back to the future

Celebrate this Black History Month (and every month, really) by digging into Afrofuturism with a playlist celebrating avant garde musicians. The aesthetic movement includes black artists who draw inspiration from elements like sci-fi, Afrocentrism and fantasy.

From rising jazz stars like Kamasi Washington to indie favorites like Shabazz Palaces, here are nine artists who can jump-start your Afrofuturism playlist
