Reading about Millard Fillmore was, literally and figuratively, a pain in the neck.
For the most part, the book I chose for our twelfth president, Millard Fillmore: Biography of a President, by Robert Rayback, was well-written. Sure, it was a bit long and overly sympathetic to Fillmore, but it painted a full picture of the guy — including his love affair with his home city, Buffalo. Read more…
