‘Revenant’ director Alejandro G. Iñárritu didn't clap when 'Mad Max' won an Oscar

Apparently, you’re never too successful for shade.
Oscars viewers noticed Sunday night that The Revenant director Alejandro G. Iñárritu — among several other men seated in the section — refused to clap after Jenny Beavan won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design for her work on Mad Max: Fury Road. Beavan — who has been nominated 10 times and now won twice — was up against Revenant’s costume designer Jacqueline West.
Some speculated that Iñárritu wasn’t clapping after becoming irritated that Mad Max was sweeping the technical categories, while others wondered if the men seated in that area were judging Beavan for her unique outfit. Others still suggested that those in the video simply didn’t clap because Beavan may have taken too long to walk to the stage. Read more…
