Chinese villagers are selling fresh mountain air to urbanites

The villagers of Lianshan Mountain in Guangdong, China, might have stumbled onto a profitable business venture — selling bags of fresh mountain air to urban city dwellers.
With China’s pollution problems showing no signs of easing, Chinese people living in smog-shrouded cities are escaping to remote areas for a breath of fresh air.
In the last week, most of the cities in the Guangdong province have been blanketed with smog, with little to no visibility.
With a sudden influx of tourists at Lianshan Mountain, which sits 4,600 feet above sea level and has the largest forest coverage in the region, villagers are bagging the coveted air and selling each bag for 10 to 30 yuan ($1.50 – $4.50), reported Zenghua News. Read more…
