Bill Gates sides with FBI over Apple in San Bernardino iPhone case

The latest Silicon Valley heavyweight to pick a side in Apple and the FBI’s war of words is Bill Gates, and in a surprising turn, he’s backing the law.
The Microsoft founder pushed back on Apple CEO Tim Cook’s claim the case would set a troubling legal precedent, he told the Financial Times. “This is a specific case where the government is asking for access to information. They are not asking for some general thing, they are asking for a particular case,” he said.
Apple and the law enforcement agency have been battling it out since a judge ordered the tech company to build a specialized piece of software to unlock the iPhone 5c of San Bernardino shooter, Syed Farook.
