Atom editor breezes past more than 1 million active developers

Atom, GitHub’s popular open source code editor, has reached an impressive milestone: more than 1 million people used it in the last month. The editor launched in 2014 to much fanfare as a powerful Web technology-based alternative to others like Sublime Text, as competing editors’ development stagnated. Since launch, it’s gone from strength to strength, with thousands of extensions being submitted by developers to build on its functionality and more than 28,000 commits to the open source repository.
