A restaurant installed an outdoor fridge where people in need can pick up free food

Indian restaurant Pappadavada is helping combat both food waste and hunger with a new community refrigerator.

Minu Pauline, who owns the Kochi eatery, decided to spearhead the fridge project after noticing a woman picking through her restaurant’s trash.

“Just imagine being in the situation where you should be asleep but you feel too hungry and you have to go out to find food,” she told The Independent.

Pauline originally intended to fill the fridge with leftover food from Pappadavada, but it’s since become a “community fridge” of sorts, with donations pouring in from other local businesses and individuals.  Read more…
