A Google Chrome extension will reword your insults

In an attempt to make people think before trolling, an educational tool has been pushed out in Australia.

The tool, Reword, is a Google Chrome extension that will scold you if you try to write a not-very-nice message to someone on the Internet. It uses a similar functionality to spell check, putting a red line through any words you write that are considered unkind.

The tool, created by mental health organisation Headspace and advertising agency Leo Burnett Melbourne, while well-intentioned is unlikely to be downloaded by a bully for self monitoring. Instead, it is hoped the tool will be rolled out on school computers and across organisations. Read more…
